Full details
Salem Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham, is recruiting Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists for a per diem position at its North Shore location. The role centers on providing anesthesia to patients across ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and procedural settings within a collaborative anesthesia care model at a large academic medical center affiliated with a leading medical school.
Duties include reviewing patient histories, performing pre-operative assessments, choosing the appropriate anesthetic in coordination with nursing and surgical teams, and administering general and regional anesthesia. The clinician inserts invasive monitoring lines, manages life support functions during anesthesia, orders and interprets labs and diagnostics, and observes patients in the immediate post-operative period. Documentation in the electronic medical record, drug and equipment safety checks, participation in audits and clinical education, and occasional coverage at other sites are also part of the work.
Per diem CRNAs are needed for daytime, weeknight, and weekend coverage to support vacation relief and gaps in the clinical schedule. Daytime shifts of varying lengths are available, along with an overnight option, and the department expects availability for a limited number of shifts each month as needed. Evening and night differentials apply, and posted rates are $200.00 per hour on weekdays and $215 per hour on weekends.
Required credentials include a Master's degree in nurse anesthesia, current NBCRNA certification, and BLS and ACLS certification. A Massachusetts RN license is preferred, and prior CRNA experience or a new graduate with up to one year is preferred. Strong knowledge of anesthesia-related sciences, comfort in a fast-paced team setting, calm performance in emergencies, and foreign language skills for the patient population are valued.
The practice describes a collegial relationship with anesthesiologists, a supportive leadership environment, and a structured orientation and training program, with extra check-ins aimed at helping newer graduates adjust to the acute care setting. The position is onsite at 81 Highland Avenue in Salem. The posted pay range is $107.54 to $127.33 per hour, with the employer noting that final compensation depends on qualifications and that differentials, premiums, bonuses, and benefits may also apply.
