Full details

This opening is for a board-certified CRNA II on the Pediatric Team at Salem Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham, and the clinician will provide anesthesia care to patients across the organization. Duties include reviewing medical histories, administering and managing anesthesia, and watching patients through procedures and the perioperative period. The incumbent must also supply proof of continued CRNA registration.

Within the pediatric service, the role centers on keeping an active clinical anesthesia practice while acting as a clinical resource and consultant for nurse anesthetists and other team members. The clinician works alongside anesthesiologists, surgeons and other health professionals to support strong patient outcomes. Additional responsibilities include building and running an orientation program for new CRNAs and SRNAs, preparing teaching material such as lectures and skill evaluations, sharing updates on protocols and research, and mentoring and precepting trainees.

The position also takes part in quality improvement and patient safety work within pediatric anesthesia, checks adherence to departmental policies, and keeps a current register of active QI projects in the specialty.

Required credentials include a master's degree as a nurse anesthesia practitioner, national CRNA certification through the NBCRNA, a Massachusetts registered nurse license, and BLS and ACLS certification. Two to three years of CRNA experience is preferred. Candidates should be skilled at taking histories and interpreting findings, keep quality standards, stay calm in emergencies, apply guidelines, communicate clearly with patients and staff, and explain complex information to others.

Salem Hospital describes a collegial relationship between CRNAs and anesthesiologists within an integrated care team, along with leadership support, a thorough orientation and training program, and regular check-ins designed to help newer nurse anesthetists adjust to a fast-paced acute care environment. The hospital emphasizes knowledge, compassion, innovation and collaboration, and it is committed to a diverse workforce.

Located on the North Shore, Salem Hospital is described as the region's largest healthcare provider and employer and is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. The site is at 81 Highland Avenue. The position is onsite, regular, and falls on the day shift, and the posted base pay range is $280,000.00 to $305,000.00 per year. A $40,000 sign-on bonus is offered, with details to be discussed during interviews, and total compensation may include benefits, differentials, premiums and bonuses as applicable.
